When I saw the Ink Blot Shop Cable Knit Sweater background stamp, I was instantly in love with it. There are a lot of hand knit images on the market, but this one is so real and intricate. If you like to color, this is an awesome background. If you don’t like to color, this is still a great stamp! Over the course of the next few days, I’ll be showcasing various cards featuring this stamp for the background. The stamp can be stamped on white and colored OR stamped in a color over colored cardstock. It looks great both ways. Today’s card is the first one I made using this set. It includes Unity Stamp Co. Wakely Girl stamp and Concord & 9th Very Merry Sentiments, “Warm Wishes.”

For this card, I stamped in gray on white cardstock. Next, I used Copics to define the cable knit stitch and add color to the lines. I like to make 5″ X 7″ cards and this stamp does not fill the whole background (the stamp is approximately 6″ X 6″) so with a ruler, I added a shiplap pattern on the sides of the knit band to add texture. The Wakely Girl comes with handwritten words around the female image. I stamped the entire stamp on the one-layer knit background and then stamped the girl again on white cardstock. After coloring the girl, I fussy cut the image and popped it over the stamped image to add dimension. Sequins finished off the look.

For best results, I would highly recommend using a MISTI stamping tool or similar stamp platform. There is so much detail in the image, that I did have to stamp it several times and apply pressure to get the full image transfer. It’s worth the time it takes to stamp it when you see the results! Keep checking back for more ideas using this fun textural background stamp. Thanks for visiting. 🙂
